Positive impact on social mobility by our armed forces

Speaking during an evidence session on our armed forces in Wales,  I enquired about the impact they have on social mobility. The panel highlighted the positive impact regular, reserve and cadet forces have on aspiration, local communities and apprenticeships.

After meeting Schools Minister Nick Gibb MP about Patchway Community School - I had a follow up meeting with him in the House of Commons, where we discussed the next action in trying to improve the schools buildings and environment.

PMQs: Asking the Prime Minister about Northern Ireland Veterans

During Prime Minister's Questions, I raised concerns over how our Armed Forces Veterans, who served in Northern Ireland, have been treated in a politically motivated witch hunt over events from decades ago. The Prime Minister confirmed that the current process isn't working and is being reviewed.

Jack Lopresti invites Schools Minister to visit Patchway School

Having visited Patchway Community School last week I felt that there were some concerns worth raising about the condition of the school buildings. The teaching staff are dedicated and are doing an excellent job under a number of challenging circumstances presented by the now ageing building.

On Monday I met with the Minister for Schools, Nick Gibb MP to discuss with him the schools funding situation in South Gloucestershire in general and with specific issues on school buildings, some of which are now outdated and in need of maintenance, repair, and, in some cases, replacement.

Had a meeting earlier today with Warren East, CEO of Rolls Royce; it was a very useful discussion covering the Patchway plant, #Brexit, and the development of the UK Future Combat Air Strategy.
