A debate on defence spending

At a debate today on Defence Spending I said that the MoD is the largest provider of apprenticeships in the UK, with our defence sector employing thousands more. This is great for social mobility, our defence sovereign capability and the wider economy, including exports.

Abbeywood and Downend Schools visit Parliament

A pleasure to meet with inspirational students from Abbeywood School and Downend School on Monday as they visited the House of Commons and Parliament. Both groups full of aspiring UK future leaders with some tough questions!

Filton Festival

Great to see recently elected local Councillor Chris Wood at the Filton Festival, in Elm Park on Sunday. Great family afternoon in the park. 

Frenchay Flower Show

The Frenchay Flower Show was the busiest for years. Plenty of stalls, some amazing local produce, beautiful flowers, Morris Dancers and of course, vintage cars! It was an honour to present prizes with Mayor Tim Bowles, West of England Combined Authority.

The Almondsbury Summer Fête

The Almondsbury Summer Fête started today with a performance from a great live band. Lots going there all afternoon.

Wheat Fest 2019

Enjoyed dropping into the Wheat Fest 2019 Wheatfield Primary School, Bradley Stoke. Congratulations to the Friends of Wheatfield School Committee for organising such a great and well attended event.

Severn Vale Festival

Great to see my friend and local Cllr Robert Griffin at the Severn Vale Festival on Saturday. Lots of great stalls and a local history exhibition. Even managed to acquire some more excellent books while I was there!
