Visited the Cakeshop in Horfield earlier, run by Krishna and Ronak, friends and constituents. A brilliant local business, I was joined by Cllr Sanjay Shambu and our excellent council candidate for Horfield and Royal Navy Reservist Simon Davies. Wonderful cakes, highly recommended!
It was nice to meet Iris Hammond again this afternoon, following her #RunAcrossUK from Land's End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in Aberdeenshire for #WorldDownSyndromeDay.
Yesterday afternoon, I met with some of the team from Elbit Systems UK, the UK subsidiary of Elbit Systems. We discussed their scope for growth as a company, providing new jobs and apprenticeship opportunities locally. We had a conversation about the intimidating protests which have occurred.
This afternoon I was campaigning in Cumbria with Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner candidate Mike Johnson and Matty Jackman for Westmorland and Lonsdale. We discussed the work they are doing with, Tough on Crime Policing, the protection of our communities and putting victims first.
Earlier today, Mark Shelford - Avon & Somerset PCC and I visited MMC Homebuilding in Stroud. They are doing great work employing ex-prisoners to build fantastic modular homes. We then visited HMP Leyhill Prison where we spoke to a veterans group about accessing veterans support.
Yesterday afternoon I attended the opening of Rheinmetall's new Collaboration and Innovation Centre in Aztec West which showcases some of the cutting edge technology in the defence manufacturing sector, such as the Mission Master autonomous vehicle, currently in Canada which I controlled from rig
Today, I was delighted to welcome pupils and teachers from Almondsbury Primary School to Westminster. They all had a tour of Parliament, and then a session in the Parliamentary Education Centre where they learned more about how our democracy works.
