On Friday, February 11th, at the end of an eventful Apprenticeship Week, Jack met with local employer; Amazon, to hear more about the action they are taking to make 2022 a record year for new apprenticeships!
This year, Amazon will create 1500 new apprenticeships (up from 1000 last year) - including 200 degree-level apprenticeships. They have also just launched a £2.5m Apprenticeship Fund to assist the small businesses and partners they work with, in taking on their own apprentices.
Following the visit, Jack Lopresti commented:
I was delighted to hear what Amazon are doing to encourage and facilitate apprenticeship opportunities in our local area (and across the country). It is great also to see their commitment to increasing the number of apprenticeships created year on year - and the additional measures they are taking to assist their strategic partners in taking on their own apprentices’.
