Following this week’s confidence vote in the Prime Minister, it is crucial that we now unite behind Mrs May and support her in delivering the Brexit that the people voted for, whilst bringing the country together. Many constituents have been in contact to ask how I voted; I supported the Prime Minister.
The Withdrawal Agreement has broad support. However, the Prime Minister has listened to the concerns that many of my colleagues have expressed over the last few weeks regarding the backstop, and that is why she has been out in Europe fighting for assurances. Progress is being made, and it is clear that the EU wants a deal.
The Withdrawal Agreement presents a sensible and pragmatic solution that delivers on the referendum result. I will continue to work with the Prime Minister, as well as colleagues, to ensure that we secure a deal in the best interests of the whole of the United Kingdom.
