On the 1st November, Jack held a Senior Citizens Advice and Information Fair at Lincombe Barn, Downend.
The exhibitors were a combination of intervention-based support providers catering for health or care needs that unfortunately affect older constituents, as well as activity and community based groups that keep people active in everyday life and provide an opportunity to learn new skills. The response was incredibly positive. Many constituents came along to hear from the exhibitors and get information and advice on a wide range of topics.
The event would not have been possible without the time and effort from those exhibitors who participated. These were Age UK, Independent Age, the Carers Support Centre, Southern Brooks, Shopmobility, SGS Adult Learning, Four Towns Community Transport, and the Pensions Advisory Service.
Jack said, "The response from constituents and exhibitors has been incredibly positive. Many constituents who contact me are unaware of the organisations, both local and national, that are available to help and support them in later life. It was great to be able to bring a range of those organisations together in one place for constituents to be able to drop by and discuss issues in person. Following the success of this first event, I will be looking at hold another one in the future in a different part of the constituency."
