Jack attended a moving dedication ceremony in Patchway for two benches, one commemorating the First World War and another commemorating the Second World War. They were placed in Scott Park next to the memorial cross, which was recently transferred from Rodway Road
The benches have been organised by the Royal British Legion committee who have more plans to upgrade the area, including erecting a marble wall where the names of the fallen in the First World War and Second World War would be recorded.
Jack is Vice-President of Stoke Gifford Royal British Legion and had attended an event the night before organised by Patchway Royal British Legion member Alfred Sollars which aimed to create a social network between local veterans, as often many miss the comradery of service life when they return to civilian duties.
Commenting on the dedication ceremony, Jack said “I would like to thank Bristol Fleet Air Arm Association and Patchway Sports & Social Club for their sponsorship of the benches. It was great to see all ages come out to honour our fallen service personnel and to see everyone, from veterans all the way to youth cadets, playing a role in the dedication ceremony.”
