After years of hard work with some of our leading defence and aerospace companies, meetings with ministers, holding debates in Parliament and tabling questions, I am pleased that this has helped to culminate in an agreement with our allies and partners in Japan and Italy to develop Tempest jointly in the coming years. This agreement between three partners will provide opportunities for development of each nation’s defence manufacturing sector with companies such as Rolls Royce, leading the charge on the innovation of this cutting-edge technology. Furthermore, with signatories in Europe and East Asia, this will demonstrate strength and deterrence against the enemies of freedom in Russia and China. Tempest will also secure a large number of defence jobs here in our area well into the future.
